About Istorias Media
Istorias Media was founded by two award-winning international journalists who left mainstream newsrooms. They felt that the industry was producing work it couldn't prove mattered, for audiences it was quietly losing.
We are an experimental media company building creative, cross-border formats worldwide to close that gap. We design content specifically for hard-to-reach and underserved communities.
We bring global newsroom experience to build what comes next
Marta and Naira spent fifteen years in some of the world’s leading international newsrooms and wire services. The journalism was real, the effort was genuine, but a quiet frustration kept nagging: there was almost no way of knowing whether any of it actually reached the people who needed it most, let alone made a tangible difference in their lives.
Chasing a chaotic mix of clicks and algorithms while adapting to changing consumption habits, modern newsrooms have drifted away from the very audiences they should be serving. Legacy institutions have left behind young people, underrepresented communities, and individuals navigating a digital landscape without the tools to spot manipulation. In this void, disinformation and highly polarising content—engineered purely for outrage—have taken over.
Istorias Media exists to counter that drift. We don't just produce content; we build custom technology and interactive formats to bridge the connection crisis between journalism and the public. We believe media can still function as a vital public good, but it has to earn back trust by being honest about who it has been leaving out.
Five principles we don't compromise on.
01 — Creative "Trojan Horse" formats Traditional news can be dry, predictable, and easily tuned out. We address complex issues with highly engaging, out-of-the-box multimedia storytelling. If you want to reach people who have completely disengaged from standard media, you have to meet them with creativity, and formats they actually enjoy.
02 — Deep audience co-creation We completely reject top-down narratives. We don't just broadcast at communities; we design with them. Through listening clubs, live theatre, and direct face-to-face conversations, we swap the distant "outsider gaze" for a trusted relationship.
03 — Uncompromising integrity No matter how experimental our formats get, our DNA is rooted in rigorous journalistic ethics. We choose our partners with care and refuse to work with harmful corporate or state actors. Independence is the absolute foundation of earning back public trust.
04 — Custom tech built for purpose We don't use technology just to look innovative. Because legacy media never built the infrastructure to track real-world change, we design our own open-source measurement tools and internal platforms. Our tech exists to prove that our work is doing what it is supposed to do.
05 — Prioritising human impact over vanity metrics The media industry is obsessed with immediate clicks, but we look for a completely different kind of ROI. We measure our success by long-term societal shifts: closing the connection gap, reducing political polarisation, and tracking actual behavioural changes within the communities we serve.
"Journalism doesn't have an audience problem. It has a relevance problem—and relevance has to be rebuilt from the ground up."
Let's rebuild audience trust together
