Mission, Vision & Core Values
The work of journalism is not clean. It requires getting close to the people whose lives matter, listening without judgment, and telling their stories with the precision they deserve. At Historias Media, we believe that the narratives coming from Latin America and the Caribbean have been filtered through too many foreign lenses for too long. We work directly with communities, with journalists embedded in the places where change happens, and with the understanding that truth is not neutral.
When we began this work, we knew the obstacles. Media ownership in the region concentrates power in the hands of a few. Stories about Latin America are often told by people who have never set foot there. The complexity of our histories gets reduced to headlines about violence or poverty, missing entirely the resilience, the organizing, the intellectual traditions that have always existed.
The stories we tell matter because they shape how people understand the world. They influence policy. They inspire action. They preserve

Testimonials
Their words speak louder than ours ever could
"Learning from Istorias Media about how to make relatable podcasts on human rights issues was a great experience. With a concise overview of the current podcast market, her own vast experience of producing podcasts and hands-on guidance on interviewing and presenting Naira gave a great push in the right direction and inspiration for our little podcast team."

"Marta and Naira were the pioneers of podcasting at Euronews. They managed to convince a skeptical newsroom that this new format had huge potential by re-framing stories and reaching new audiences. I loved working with them, and you will too."

"It was a real pleasure for me to work with Naira and Marta on the projects Cry Like a Boy and The Star Ingredient as a correspondent in Burundi. Thanks to them, I was able to deepen my experience in podcast production and documentary filmmaking. I really appreciated their professionalism and team spirit. Very creative and super cool journalists!"
